Immigration History
Did you know that from the founding of our country in 1776 until 1875 there was 100 years of unimpeded immigration. The first immigration restriction was the Act of March 3, 1875 - [18 Stat, 477], which provided for the exclusion of convicts and prostitutes. see Ira J.
